We collect only what you give us and what any web server records: the contents of error reports and feedback you submit, and standard server logs (IP address, browser type, pages visited) used for security and debugging. We use a session cookie to make forms work; we do not use advertising or cross-site tracking cookies.
Contractor names, license numbers, business addresses, and license statuses displayed on this site come from public government records published by North Carolina licensing boards and the Secretary of State. If you are a listed contractor and believe information about you is inaccurate, use the Report Issue button on your profile.
Many of the licenses we publish are held by sole proprietors and individual license holders, and the address on file with the state board is often their home. We understand that publishing it, even though it is a matter of public record, is not always something a license holder expected or wanted.
If you hold a license listed here, you can ask us to withhold your street address, your phone number, or both. Send the request through the contact form or the Report Issue link on your profile, and tell us which listing it concerns and which details you want withheld. We do not ask you to prove that the address is residential.
When we apply it, your profile stays published and your license information is unchanged, because that is the public record this site exists to make checkable. Your city and state remain visible so people can still find you. The page shows a short note saying you asked for those details to be withheld, so no one reads the gap as something being wrong with your license.
Two honest limits. We can only change what appears on this site, so a search engine may keep showing an older copy of the page for a while, and the state board will still publish the same record on its own site. And because the underlying record is public, we cannot promise the information is not available elsewhere.
We do not sell your personal information. We do not share report submissions with the contractors they concern. We do not send marketing email (we don't even collect your email yet).
Reports and feedback are kept as long as needed to maintain data quality. Server logs rotate on a standard schedule. Questions about this policy can be sent through the feedback page.
